Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Josh Scott along with Deputy Shannon Jones and Sgt. John Inman arrested Shawn Kurt Mulrenin age 43 of Combs Circle Rd., London on Monday night June 25, 2018 at approximately 11:38 PM.
The arrest occurred off White Oak Road, approximately 8 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint received through Laurel 911 dispatch.
Dispatchers advised someone had called 911 from a cell phone and the line was open and they could hear a heated domestic dispute between a male and female subject. At one point, the male threatened to kill the female and cut her tongue out.
Laurel 911 dispatch center was able to ping the cell phone developing a location on the suspect vehicle determining that it was located on White Oak Road. Deputies located the suspect vehicle at the end of White Oak Road – a white colored Pontiac G6, and Deputy Scott activated his emergency equipment to conduct a stop on the vehicle, the passenger side door was open and a female subject was attempting to exit the vehicle from the passenger door.
The vehicle failed to stop and sped off around a car finally stopping.
Deputies conducted an investigation learning that the male driver had allegedly struck the female in the head several times and drove off while she was attempting to exit the vehicle.
Deputies also found the driver in possession of a pipe used to smoke meth.
Shawn Kurt Mulrenin was charged with assault – fourth degree – domestic violence; unlawful imprisonment – first-degree; fleeing or evading police – second degree – motor vehicle; possession of drug paraphernalia; wanton endangerment – first-degree; and failure of the owner to maintain required insurance – first offense.
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
