Manchester, KY - The Manchester Police Department is reporting that at approximately 10:06 A.M. on June 22, 2018, Clay County 911 received a hold up alarm from the Manchester Square Branch of the First National Bank of Manchester.
While officers were responding, a 911 call was made from the bank confirming an armed robbery had just taken place.
Upon officers arrival, the white male suspect, later identified as Robert Dale Terry, 51, of Hazard Kentucky, had fled the scene.
Manchester Police Department Officer Kelly Johnson, Clay County Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael Cagle, and Kentucky State Police Trooper Jared Smith located Terry on Muddy Gap Road after Terry had fled on foot and had removed his ballcap, sunglasses, shirt, and pants while still wearing ball shorts and white tee shirt.
During the investigation it has been determined that Terry had entered the bank with a 25 caliber handgun, presented the teller with a handwritten note with instructions to empty the drawer. Terry then exited the bank with just over $3,000 in cash.
During the investigation, Terry did confess to the crime. Terry is also believed to be a suspect in another investigation of other robberies.
Terry was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center charged with Robbery First-Degree, Theft over $500.00, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Fleeing or Evading Police, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Manchester Police Department Chief Chris Fultz is in charge of the ongoing investigation.
