KSP UPDATE: Arrest made - Pedestrian struck in Knox County

*UPDATE*

On Saturday June 9, 2018 at approximately 11:30 a.m. Trooper Sammy Faris located Ms. Helton and charged her with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid/with serious injury.

She is lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. Case is continuing by Tpr. Sammy Faris.

Corbin, Ky. (February 8, 2018) - On June 7, 2018 at 7:34 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call about a collision on Ky 1232 in the Corbin community in Knox County. Trooper Sammy Faris responded to the scene and began an investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates Shawna Moore, 46, of Corbin was walking north on Ky 1232 when a unknown vehicle traveling on Ky 1232 struck her with the passenger mirror causing her to fall into the ditch. Ms. Moore was transported by ambulance to Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin for non-life threatening injuries.

The operator of the vehicle failed to stop after the collision. KSP is continuing the investigation.

UPDATE: Trooper Sammy Faris with Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan has obtained an arrest warrant for Michelle Huddleston Helton, 41, of Corbin for operating the vehicle that struck Shawna Moore yesterday evening.

Kentucky State Police is asking the public with assistance locating Ms. Helton. Ms. Helton is facing charges for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid/with serious injury.
