Police in Laurel County arrest a parole violator during Hit & Run crash investigation

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Broughton along with CSO Austin King with assistance from KSP Trooper John Pratt arrested Zachary T. Bowling age 24 of London on Wednesday morning May 30, 2018 at approximately 8:46 AM.

The arrest occurred on Pine Top Road, approximately 3 miles west of London while officers were investigating a non-injury traffic crash there.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a white Chevrolet pickup truck that had ran off the roadway and struck a tree and the driver was not located there.

An investigation was conducted and the driver was located in another vehicle in the vicinity – Officers conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle making contact with an individual who gave officers a false name and date of birth.

While conducting the investigation officers developed information on the true identity of that individual learning that he had wrecked the truck and had outstanding warrants.

Zachary T. Bowling was charged her with giving officer false identifying information and leaving the scene of an accident.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine ; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; operating a motor vehicle under the influence – third offense; failure to signal.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Kentucky Parole Board parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision; failure to attend treatment for substance abuse; failure to complete treatment; failure to report to parole officer as directed regarding a conviction in Laurel Circuit Court on a charge of driving on DUI suspended license – second offense.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
