PSA: Upcoming Clay County Extension Programs



Manchester, KY - Clay County Cooperative Extension Service upcoming programs

Just Get Moving Manchester will be May 21st from 5:30—7:00 pm at the Pioneer Village-Bryon White Picnic Shelter-River Trail in East Manchester.  Registration will be at Bryon White Picnic Shelter. Activities include: painted rock scavenger hunt, take a walk along the River Trail & Pioneer Village & enjoy nature and time with your family and paint and hide your own rock.  This program is free and open to the public.

Chef’s in Training will be May 24th from 4-5:00 pm at the EXCEL building.  Join us as we learn kitchen tricks, safety and new cooking skills.  Homemade treats for May….snickerdoodle cookies!   You will also have the opportunity to enter items for Kentucky State Fair. Free and open to all youth ages 9-18.  If younger, a parent or guardian is required to stay.  Please call 598-2789 to register by Monday, May 21st.

Foot Care for the Diabetic will be on May 24th at 6:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. If you are a diagnosed diabetic, you can purchase one pair of shoes a year and your insurance will pay for them. We will have a representative here on May 24th for you to order your shoes. She will measure and make molds of your feet for a good fit. She will also do a program on how important foot care is for the diabetic. The program is FREE, but you must call 598-2789 to register to attend.

●Photography Workshop will be held May 30th, 31st, and June 5th & 28th beginning at 3:30 pm.  Do you have a budding photographer in your family?  Do they want to learn more about taking pictures?  We are again offering photography for youth in grades 3rd – 12th. Cameras will be provided. They will be able to enter pictures in two photography contests:  Clay County Homemakers Photography Show at the end of August and the Kentucky State Fair in August.  Class size is limited, so please call 598-2789 and register.   Class is free!

Fun With Painting will be June 1st at 3:45 pm at the EXCEL building.  This event is for children and families and is free, but you must call 598-2789 to register by Tuesday, May 29th.  Limited spots are available.

●Preserving Your Food – You have a bounty of food left over from your garden and you need to know how to preserve it!  Attend the learning session on June 1st at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  We will be talking about both methods of preserving produce from your garden, canning and freezing.  You must call 598-2789 to register. Free and open to the public.
