Motorcycle rider jailed after fleeing police in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Chris Edwards along with Detective Sgt. Kevin Berry arrested Bobby P. Brown age 32 of Old Hare Rd., London on Monday evening April 16, 2018 at approximately 5:04 PM after detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Kawasaki motorcycle on Ky. 638 as it pulled onto Hal Rogers Parkway traveling westbound.

When detectives activated their emergency equipment, the vehicle failed to stop running through red lights and driving recklessly more than 80 mph around traffic. The vehicle continued out Hal Rogers Parkway approximately 5 miles, turning onto Ky. 1535, Somerset Road, and losing control on Abbuhl Road.

The suspect fled on foot approximately 50 yards before deputies caught up to him and following a brief struggle was taken into custody. Bobby P. Brown was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; seven counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim; wanton endangerment – first-degree; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; carrying a concealed weapon; no registration plates; Failure to maintain required insurance – first offense; driving on DUI suspended license – first offense; speeding more than 26 mph over the limit; three counts of disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light; disregarding a stop sign; improper passing; reckless driving; failure to comply with helmet law; failure to signal; resisting arrest; and numerous other traffic violations.

In addition, this subject was wanted on three outstanding warrants including a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on a traffic violation; a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of operating on suspended or revoked operators license and other traffic violations; a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Assisting for LSO at the scene was: Deputy Travis Napier, Deputy Jake Miller, Deputy Taylor McDaniel, Sgt. Robbie Grimes, Detective Kyle Gray, Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, and CSO Brent France. Kentucky State Police Trooper Jason Smith also assisted. Also assisting at the scene was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Colony Volunteer Fire Department, and East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Department.
