Assault arrest Monday in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jake Miller along with Deputy Travis Napier and Sgt. Robbie Grimes arrested John D. Pennington age 42 of London on Monday afternoon April 9, 2018 at approximately 4:18 PM.

The arrest occurred off MJB Drive, approximately 5 miles south of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a male subject had gotten into a physical fight with his girlfriend and had struck her in the head with his fist.

As deputies arrived at the scene, this subject fled on foot and following a search of the area was found laying down. This individual was determined to be under the influence and as he was being led to the police car he began yelling and cursing and creating a disturbance in the area.

John D. Pennington was charged with assault – fourth degree – domestic violence; alcohol intoxication in a public place; disorderly conduct – second-degree. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center area.
