DUI 3rd Offense arrest Wednesday in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Grigsby arrested Cynthia M. Turner age 34 of Barbourville early Wednesday morning March 21, 2018 at approximately 3:15 AM.

The arrest occurred on I– 75, approximately 3 miles south of London after Deputy Grigsby was dispatched to a complaint that a silver colored Nissan Altima had allegedly sideswiped a tractor-trailer southbound on I-75 near London.

When Deputy Grigsby located the suspect vehicle he clocked the vehicle by radar traveling 80 mph in a 70 mph. In addition Deputy Grigsby noted that the vehicle was weaving all over the interstate between all three southbound lanes. The vehicle then went over the right shoulder into the grass almost causing a collision.

Deputy Grigsby conducted a traffic stop on this vehicle and conducted an investigation on the driver who was determined to be under the influence – the driver stated that she had smoked marijuana and taken several pills prior to operating a motor vehicle. This subject stated she had taken hydrocodone given to her by a friend. This subject was found in possession of hydrocodone.

Cynthia M. Turner was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – third offense; speeding 10 mph over the limit; reckless driving; failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance – 1st offense; driving too fast for traffic conditions; and possession of a controlled substance first-degree – first offense.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
