Driver charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root along with Deputy Bryon Lawson, Deputy Brad Mink, assisted by Constable Jimmy Lewis arrested Ashley Marie Johnson age 23 of London on Saturday morning February 17, 2018 at approximately 11:48 AM.

The arrest occurred off Sally's Branch Road just east of London after an investigation was conducted into a crash where a vehicle had left the roadway causing severe damage to a three plank property fence the day before and the vehicle that struck it had fled the scene.

Information was developed after a vehicle – a black colored Chevrolet Malibu with severe damage, was spotted behind a residence off Sally's Branch Road.

An investigation was conducted there and the occupant at the residence admitted she had driven the vehicle that struck the fence and fled the scene – she stated she fled because she did not have a valid driver's license and the vehicle was not insured.

Ashley Marie Johnson was charged with leaving the scene of an accident; failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense; no operator's license; and criminal mischief – first-degree and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
