UPDATE - Teen charged with making threats toward Knox County Schools


Barbourville, Ky. (November 9, 2017) - During the evening hours on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 an anonymous telephone message was sent with a threat toward Knox County Public Schools.

Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan was notified of the threats and began an investigation.

Troopers from Post 10 responded to the local schools throughout Knox County on November 9, 2017 to increase security and ensure student safety.

At this time KSP has identified no creditable threats toward any Knox County Public Schools.

KSP will maintain a presence at the local schools throughout the day. KSP is continuing the investigation.

UPDATE:

On November 15, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. KSP Detective Jake Wilson charged a 16 year old male juvenile from Corbin , Ky with terroristic threatening 2nd degree.

The 16 year old juvenile placed a call into the Knox County Board of Education threatening harm to students within the school district last week. The juvenile attends Lynn Camp High school and gave a full confession to Det. Wilson.

KSP Post 10 Criminal Analyst was able to assist Det. Wilson by tracking down important evidence to the case.

Kentucky State Police Post 10 make it a priority to investigate threats toward any students or staff members thoroughly within our school districts.

Case is still under investigation by Det. Jake Wilson.
