Second Offense DUI & A Wanted Person Arrest During Investigation Of Vehicle Partially In Ditch Of A Kentucky Highway

LONDON, KY (November 2, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston along with K-9 Deputy Jake Miller arrested two individuals on Monday morning November 2, 2020 at approximately 6:37 AM.

The arrests occurred on Highway 490 approximately 3 miles north of London after deputies located a green colored Chevrolet pickup partially in the ditch and partially on the roadway there.

An investigation was conducted and the driver was determined to be under the influence and the passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Arrested was:

The driver Willie Vasco Hubbard age 66 of East Bernstadt charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – Second offense

The passenger Robin L. Steel age 53 of East Bernstadt charged on:

  • A Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
    1. Failure to appear in court on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence – Second offense
    2. Reckless driving
    3. Failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
