Drugs, Firearm & a Large Amount of US Currency Located During Traffic Stop in London, Ky.

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Gary Mehler arrested Mack E. Jones age 39 of Highway 904, Williamsburg early Wednesday morning August 12, 2020 at approximately 3:55 AM.

The arrest occurred on North Main St. in London following a traffic stop conducted on a gray Ford Fusion for an equipment violation.

During the stop it was learned that the driver was operating on a suspended license.

During the investigation, the driver was found in possession of a handgun and it was learned that he was a convicted felon.

In addition, the driver was found in possession of:

  • Suspected crystal Methamphetamine
  • Suboxone
  • Marijuana
  • A large amount of US currency

Mack E. Jones was charged with:

  • Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
  • Failure to wear seatbelts
  • Rear license plate not illuminated.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
