Betty Jean Woods, 89, of Leslie County, KY, passed away Saturday, January 27th, at the AdventHealth Manchester Hospital. Betty was born in London, KY, on August 23rd, 1934, the daughter of the late Joe and Rosa L. Hedrick Sparks. Betty loved her school children, she was a cook at Big Creek Elementary for 27 years, and she was a Sunday school teacher.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Henry Woods Jr.
She is survived by her 4 sons and 2 daughters: Danny Woods and Cindy of Georgetown, William Woods and Sharon of Bear Branch, Bobby Woods of Big Creek, Freddy Woods and Ladonna of Manchester, Joyce Yonts and George of Bear Branch, and Martha Woods of Bear Branch.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty is preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Robert Sparks, John Sparks, James Sparks, Fred Sparks, Hazel Wyan, Ruby Evans, Mary Ann Campbell, Elizabeth Sparks, and Reva Sparks.
Services for Betty will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 30th, at Britton Funeral Home, with Scotty Jewell and Joe Crockett officiating. Burial will follow in the Woods Cemetery in Hyden.
Visitation for Betty will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, January 29th, at Britton Funeral Home.
