John "Junior" Root, age 73 of Manchester departed this life on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was born on Tuesday, December 12, 1950 in Oneida, Kentucky to John and Viola Wolfe Root. He worked for General Motors.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife: Mary Glaser Root, his children: John Douglas Root, Matthew Lee Root, and Nicholas Allen Root and Christopher Messer who he loved as his own child. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Jaden Danielle Root, Kylie Sawyers, Miley Marie Root and Carson Messer and his siblings: James Estill Root, Debra Kay Tedders and husband Jimmy, Lillie Mae Tedders and husband Roy and Ed Root and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Viola Root, his brothers: Wendell “Cabbage” Root and Ernest Lee Root and his sister: Betty Sue Root.
Funeral Services for John Junior Root will be conducted on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Randy Philpot will be presiding. He will be laid to rest in the Chadwell Cemetery in the Pigeon Roost Community.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday after 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
