Victor Errol Arnett of Hazard, Kentucky, formally of Oneida, passed away peacefully at the Greg & Noreen wells Hospice Care Center at age 75 on October 3, 2023 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on December 22, 1947 in Oneida, he was the son of Melvin Arnett and Beatrice Roark Arnett (both deceased).

Following in the footsteps of his father, he served Kentucky and our nation in military uniform, assigned to the 100th Division (Army Reserve), rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. His contributions to the community are numerous and includes service as a Mason, a member of the Oneida Volunteer Fire Department, and athletic coach. He enjoyed politics and worked diligently for many of the successful office holders in Clay County.

He was very fortunate in developing a second family with Doris’s children who were like daughters to him: Charlotte (David) Boggs and Tammy (Joe) Hurt and further blessed with Doris’s grandchildren Allanah Hurt, Ryan (Brittany) Boggs, Austin Boggs, and great-grandchild Oakley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son Eric Shane.
