Carolyn Gilbert Reed, age 72 of Green Cove Springs Florida, formerly of Oneida Kentucky passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, February 18, 2022.
Carolyn was survived by her three siblings: Helen Corbin (Fred) of Columbia KY, Eddie Gilbert (Barbara) of Cincinnati OH, and Nancy Gilbert of Harrison OH.
She was also survived by her two children: Mark Reed (Dina) and Marla Hoskins (Steve) both of Harrison OH, as well as four grandchildren: Jennifer Reed, Lauren Kolb, Tyler Hoskins, and Kyle Hoskins; Seven great-grandchildren: Alizea, Eli, Abel, Reagan, Gracie, Harper, and Ella; her niece Gina Shelton (Caleb), and two nephews: Eddie Gilbert (Elisha) and Aaron Gilbert (Jen), as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mannon and Kathleen Gilbert, her nephew Daniel Corbin, and her life partner, Dave Patchell.
Carolyn worked as a computer operator at Cincinnati Compucred until her retirement.
She was a single mother, who worked hard and raised her children in the Miamitown/Harrison Ohio area until they grew to start their own families.
Although the first part of Carolyn’s life had its challenges, she met Dave and spent her final years doing what she loved on the beaches of Florida, enjoying the sunshine and sunsets, the ocean waves, fishing tournaments, and putting her perfectly painted toes in the sand.
Carolyn loved to work crossword puzzles, and she was a master at the art of cross-stitching. She had a giving heart and would always send those she loved personalized gifts that she spent hours creating just for them. The gifts she gave could never be bought, or even duplicated, as they were always made from the heart and with great love and detail.
She had a love for all animals, but was especially fond of her own dogs, Max and Mini as well as their cat, Buddy. They were her little companions and provided her a lot of company! She often said how animals loved unconditionally, and she loved them back through her monthly donation to the World Wildlife Federation to help advocate on behalf of wildlife and endangered species.
Carolyn will be missed by all who love her, and her beautiful smile, her blue eyes, her free spirit and strong will will be remembered and celebrated until we see her again.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY with Mike Neal officiating.
Family and friends will be received beginning at 11:00 AM. The burial will take place following the service at the Squire Hensley Cemetery, in Oneida KY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the World Wildlife Federation in honor of Carolyn.
