Obituary for Joshua Phillipe Lyons

Josh Lyons, 39, of Hyden, Kentucky passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. Josh was born in Hyden on February 10, 1981, the son of Larry and Colleen Lyons. In December 1983 Josh received his lifesaving diagnosis and treatment for a pediatric brain tumor at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati. The doctors said they could buy Josh some time.

Josh was a courageous man who waged many medical battles during his life, always receiving comfort, support and encouragement from his family and friends. When Josh was 13 he lost his dad Larry suddenly on October 8, 1994.

With the love and comfort of his mom Colleen, Grandma Helen, Papaw Elmer, Grandma Edith and Grandpa Bob, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, classmates, and friends Josh kept on going and graduated from the Leslie County High School, Class of 1999.

Josh was intelligent, articulate, artistic, and loved dogs, having had several beloved dogs over the years. Josh loved listening to heavy metal music, watching WWE with his best friend, Michael Bowling, and just being with family and friends.

Joshua Phillipe Lyons is survived by his devoted mom, Colleen Lyons; Grandma Helen Madden; Aunt Teresa and Uncle James Caudill; Uncle Mack and Aunt Renee Muncy; a close group of cousins, all special to Josh, including Jim Bob Caudill; Quentin Caudill and his daughter Presleigh; Barbara Asher and her sons Andrew Asher, Matthew Asher and Aaron Asher and their children; Rick Lewis and Ronnie Lewis; double first cousin Robin Muncy; special friends Michael Bowling, Jim, Jerry, and Grace Osborne; and many other relatives and friends.

Josh was preceded in death by his beloved dad Larry Lyons, Great Grandparents Ottis and Lottie Roberts; Great Grandparents McKinley and Ruth Roark and Nannie Morgan; Grandparents Robert C. and Edith Muncy; and his beloved Papaw Elmer Madden.

Burial at the W.M. Roberts Family Cemetery, Owls Nest, Kentucky.

All services will be private due to Govenor Beshear's Covid 19 mandate.
