Chester Lewis Oakley

Chester Lewis Oakley was born on April 24, 1932, in Laurel County, Kentucky, the son of the late John Bert and Louvernia Hubbard Oakley. He was united in marriage to Ruby Iona Hooker Oakley, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Donnie Eugene Oakley and Larry Dean Oakley and wife, Cathy, three siblings, Elmer and Ronald Oakley and Bessie Creech, all of London, son-in-law, Henry “Sonny” Krahenbuhl of London, five grandchildren, Timothy Krahenbuhl (Jeanna), Jamie Krahenbuhl (Elishia), Tony Krahenbuhl (Amanda), Jennifer Leann Baker and Randy Lee Baker (Cailen) all of London, twelve great grandchildren, special niece, Danielle Hooker McCauly of North Carolina, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing. In addition to his parents and wife, he is also preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Darlene Krahenbuhl, sisters, Dorothy Smith, Ethel Adams, Violet Dillion, Geneva Dillion and Lola Mae Oakley and brothers, Walter, Arthur, George Steve, Bert Junior, Lonnie, Everett and Randall Oakley.

He was a retired heating and air conditioning installer, a member of Mt. Moriah United Baptist Church and an ordained minister for 55 plus years.

Chester Lewis Oakley departed this life at Rockcastle Health & Rehab on Sunday, March 1, 2020, being 87 years, 10 months and 6 days of age.

Funeral services for Chester Oakley will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Woodrow "Woody" Jackson and Harley “Cotton” Hammack officiating. Burial will follow in the East Colony Cemetery at London.

The family of Chester Oakley will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home after 6 PM Wednesday.
