Lindsay Michal Sharp was born May 22, 1984, in London, Kentucky, to Mother, Diane McCollum Sharp and father, Michael Sharp.
Lindsay attended Sublimity Elementary, South Laurel Middle School and was a graduate of South Laurel High School Class of 2002. She was active in Youth Alive and HOSA, served as the Cardinal Mascot and was voted Best School Spirit. She served as a staff member of Laurel Lake Baptist Camp for many summers.
She graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in 2006 with a Degree in Christian Ministries and a minor in Communications. She then moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she worked as the Program and Outreach Director for Camp Barnabas, a camp for children and adults with disabilities. She also worked as a teacher for adults with disabilities at the Developmental Center of the Ozarks. She was named Grand Marshall of the 2019 World Chicken Festival. Most recently, the last Saturday in September was named as “Lindsay Sharp Day” by the London/Laurel County Tourism Board.
Even though Lindsay was small in stature, she was big in love. She loved Vera Bradley, Apple Products, Starbucks, traveling, her cat of thirteen years, Brody, her mint green convertible Fiat, her dachshund, Latte, growing beautiful flowers, The World Chicken Festival and her many friends across the world.
Lindsay was also big on Faith. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and also attended The Creek Church where she taught in Kids Creek prior to her illness. She was an inspiration to many because of her strength, determination, spunk and smile. She courageously fought two different cancers during the past six years. She never gave up until the Lord welcomed her home.
Lindsay leaves a multitude of family and friends to keep her memory alive. In addition to her Mother, Diane, she is survived by her father, Michael and wife, Sherri, sister Katelyn, and brothers, Tanner and Tucker Sharp and Jerrett Deaton all of East Bernstadt, KY.
She was loved greatly by her Maternal Grandmother, Gladys Chesnut McCollum, Aunts Vera (Wayne) Benge, Leshia (Anthony) Combs, Christy (Scott) George. Her cousins who felt like siblings – Dr. Dustin (Molli) Benge, Amanda (Tim), Payton, Shelby and Thomas Ohler; Madison and Hayden Combs, Sydney King and Grayson George.
Lindsay had hundreds of friends during her lifetime but one friend was Extraordinarily special. Lisa Rose Hibbs was not only her very best friend but was her travel companion, confidant and soul sister until the very end.
She is also survived by Aunt Rosemary (Richard) Gibson, Uncle Roger (Annette) Sharp and cousins Brian and Brent Gibson.
Lindsay was preceded in death by Grandparents, Roy and Alena Sharp, Bert McCollum; Great grandparents, PH McCollum (Dora), Vera Jody McCollum, Van and Stella Lake, and John Edward and Laura Sharp.
Lindsay reached her final heavenly destination on March 1, 2020 at 1:30 am at her home in London being 35 years, 9 months, 1 week and 2 days old. Funeral services will be held at Corinth Baptist Church, London at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 4. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3 after 5 pm at the church. Entombment will follow at a later date. Bowling Funeral Home of London has been trusted with arrangements.
