Obituary for Chester Wagers


Chester Wagers age 89 departed this life on Sunday, March 3rd at his home. He was born on Tuesday, June 11th, 1929 to the union of Charlie and Della Wagers. He was a lumber inspector and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was a member of the Big Creek Holiness Church. He enjoyed listening to Sill Lee on the radio broadcast on Sunday mornings and on warm days enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the birds.

He is survived by his daughter, Ollie Carol Loughran and husband Johnnie of Big Creek; daughters-in-law: Delores Waters-Wagers, Debbie Jackson-Wagers-Billips, Lise Blackbun-Wagers, and Penny Watson-Wagers; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one brother, Jim Wagers of London, KY; and three sisters: America Napier, Romaine Henson and Hestor Smith all of Manchester.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Gracie Wagers; his sons: Larry, George and Paul Wagers; his parents, Charlie and Della Wagers; his brother, Steve Wagers; and sisters, Maryann Smith and Juanita Henson.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6th at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY, with Roy Lane Woods officiating. Burial will follow at the Hoskins Cemetery on Big Creek.

Visitation will be held 6:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5th at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY.
