FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 20, 2020) – Gov. Andy Beshear on Monday updated Kentuckians on continued efforts to fight the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) as the commonwealth faces a significant uptick in new cases.

FRANKFORT, KY – The Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) on Monday issued an advisory for Kentuckians who have traveled to states reporting high numbers of COVID-19. The advisory recommends a 14-day self-quarantine for travelers who went to any of eight states reporting positive testing rate equal to or greater than 15% for COVID-19 testing. The advisory also includes one state quickly approaching a positive testing rate of 15% and one U.S. Territory.

FRANKFORT, KY – Two men were sentenced on Thursday, July 16, 2020 to 21 months in federal prison and 3 years probation with 9 months served in a halfway house, respectively, for orchestrating a multi-year scheme to funnel more than $200,000 in secret, unlawful corporate contributions into a campaign for United States Senate and for causing the concealment of those contributions from the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

LOUISVILLE, KY – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and U.S. Congressman Hal Rogers (KY-05) announced today Volunteers of America Mid-States (VOA) received a $2.6 million competitive federal grant spread over five years from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Only three facilities nationwide were awarded funding from this grant program.

Homeland Security Grant Announced for Clay County, Kentucky

FRANKFORT, KY (July 10, 2020) – The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security has awarded Clay County $108,938.97 to upgrade an obsolete, end-of-life CAD (Computer Aided Dispatching) and enhance mapping capabilities. The Clay County grant application was one of 61 considered for these funds awarded through the State Homeland Security Grant Program.
