Stolen ATV leads to three arrests in Knox County

Dewitt, Ky. – On September 16, 2016 at 7:45 a.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call about a theft of a four-wheeler being reported.

The Red Honda Foreman 4X4 was stolen at a residence off of Ky 930 in the Flat lick community of Knox County in the early morning hours before reporting it. Trooper Jay Sowders responded to the residence and began an investigation.

During the investigation, Tpr. Sowders received information that led him to Browns Branch in the Scalf community of Knox County and arrested Todd Sprinkles, 28, of Scalf. Mr. Sprinkles was arrested and charged with Theft by unlawful taking over $500.00 (Auto). Mr. Sprinkles was also served with an indictment warrant with prior charges.

After the arrest of Mr. Sprinkles, the stolen ATV was recovered at a residence on Houston Broughton Road in Dewitt community of Knox County. Upon locating the stolen ATV, two male individuals ran from the residence into a wooded area.

Tpr. Sowders located both Michael Sproles, 37, of Gray and Dusty Bingham, 34 of Barbourville. Mr. Sproles was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property under $10,000, fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (foot), two prior bench warrants, and obscuring the identity of a machine.

While at the residence Tpr. Sowders located another four wheeler that had the VIN number taken off and stripped. Mr. Bingham was also charged with two counts of receiving stolen property under $10,000, fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (foot), Parole Violation warrant, and obscuring the identity of a machine.

All three individuals were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

Case is still under investigation by Tpr. Jay Sowders.
