Sunday morning drug related arrests in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Shawn Jackson arrested two individuals near a business off West Cumberland Gap Pkwy., approximately 10 miles south of London early Sunday morning September 4, 2016 at approximately 3:40 AM.

The arrests occurred after Deputy Jackson conducted an investigation on two individuals after finding one of the two individuals in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Arrested was:

  • Martha House age 24 of Mill Creek Rd., Corbin charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense. This subject was found with syringes with needles that this subject stated she had been using to shoot up meth. Deputy Jackson noted fresh needle marks on her arms and she stated she had just shot up about an hour prior.

This subject also had three small Ziploc baggies that contained a white crystalline substance that this subject stated was meth laced with Flakka.

  • Vanessa Volter age 27 of Bolton Ave., Corbin charged with public intoxication – controlled substances and resisting arrest. Allegedly when this subject observed Deputy Jackson she exited her vehicle quickly and entered a business after being asked by Deputy Jackson to stop.

An investigation was conducted on this subject and she was determined to be under the influence. This subject created a disturbance by yelling and cursing inside the store and refused to walk outside even after being told she was under arrest stating "I am not going to jail" as Deputy Jackson escorted her outside and to the police cruiser.

  • Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
