Three unrelated DUI arrests in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: deputies have arrested 3 different individuals in unrelated arrests charging DUI and other violations.

Those arrested included:

  • 1.Ricky Westerfield age 54 of Bill Mays Rd., London arrested by Deputy Daniel Grigsby and Deputy Shawn Jackson on Friday night August 26, 2016 at approximately 10:54 PM. after deputies observed a silver colored Jeep grand Cherokee weaving on the roadway on South Laurel Rd. in London and conducted a traffic stop and detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver.

    An investigation was conducted and this subject was determined to be under the influence and was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; reckless driving; and other traffic violations.

  • 2.Mitchell Vaughn age 25 of Garland Cemetery Road, Gray, Kentucky arrested by Sgt. Larry Parrott and Deputy Shannon Jones early Saturday morning August 27, 2016 at approximately 1:33 AM.

    The arrest occurred on North Stewart Rd., approximately 10 miles south of London after deputies conducted a traffic stop for no tail lamps and expired registration plates on a red colored Chevrolet Silverado.

    During the stop deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted an investigation on the driver determining that he was under the influence.

    Deputies located a bag of marijuana, a glass pipe, a straw and three Neurotin tablets in this subject's possession.

    Mitchell Vaughn was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; no registration plates; possession of a controlled substance; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia and other violations.

  • 3.Andres Gonzalez age 29 of S & R Apartments on Barbourville St., London early Saturday morning August 27, 2016 at approximately 4:04 AM. - Arrested by Sgt. Larry Parrott after he was observed driving a green colored Mitsubishi 3000GT making an improper turn and weaving on the roadway on Brown Lane in London.

    During the traffic stop Sgt. Parrott detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver and conducted an investigation determining that he was under the influence.

    This subject was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense; improper turning; failure to wear seatbelts; and other traffic violations.

  • All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
