Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root along with Detective Kevin Berry , Detective Jason Back , Sgt. Brett Reeves, Capt Chuck Johnson, Lt. Greg Poynter, Sgt Robbie Grimes, and Deputy Cody Faulconer arrested two individuals on Thursday evening July 7, 2016 at approximately 5:00 PM charging them with receiving stolen property regarding the theft of a trailer belonging to Sloan's Hardwood and Tile which contained several thousand dollars worth of carpenter tools inside it.
In addition, three other individuals checked during the investigation had outstanding charges and were also arrested.
On Thursday, Sheriff Root developed information on possible suspects regarding the theft of the trailer which had been stolen off Ky 229, approximately 3 miles south of London on Friday or Saturday, June 17 or June 18.
When stolen, the trailer contained numerous carpenter tools inside it. On June 23, a land owner found the trailer burned on his property off Sam Carroll Road off Radford Road approximately 12 miles north of London – the carpenter tools had been removed from the trailer prior to it being set afire.
On Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2016 Laurel County Sheriff John Root, detectives and deputies traveled to a location off Branch Road, approximately 10 miles north of London and conducted follow-up investigations arresting one suspect regarding possession of the reported stolen trailer.

As the investigation continued, Sheriff''s deputies traveled to a residence off Walnut road, approximately 8 miles south of London where they located the second suspect who had been in possession of the stolen utility box trailer that contained tools. The Sheriff, detectives and deputies found a reported stolen F150 pickup truck in the second suspect's possession.

In addition, while a search warrant was being executed at this subject's residence later Thursday evening, oxycodone pills were found and this subject was charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense. Kenneth Begley was also charged on a Kentucky parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision regarding a conviction of flagrant nonsupport in Laurel Circuit Court. Begley was also charged on a Madison County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on numerous traffic violations.
In addition this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear on flagrant nonsupport regarding arrearage of over $10,000.
Detectives and deputies also found three other subjects on Walnut road during the theft investigation which were wanted on outstanding bench warrants.
