Programs offered by the Clay County Extension Office for July 2016


♦Photography Camp will be held again this year! Dates are July 7th, 11th, 14th & 21st at 11:00 am.

We will be meeting at the Extension Office on all dates. On July 7th, parents will need to transport their kids to Rawlings & Stinson Park at 12:30 pm to take pictures. If you have your own camera, you can bring it. If you don't have a camera, one will be provided to use. Photography Camp is FREE & all youth in 3rd - 12th grades are invited to attend. You MUST call to register at 598-2789 by July 5th. A limited number of spots are available. Participants will have opportunities to exhibit outstanding photography at the Kentucky State Fair 4-H Exhibit, Extension Week Exhibits and the Clay County Homemakers Photography Show.

Super Star Chef Day Camp will be in July at the EXCEL building.  Super Star Chef is a series of hands on sessions that are FREE & open to all youth ages 8 years old and up.  You MUST pre-register by July 21st by calling 598-2789.  Day 1:  July 25th at 2:30 pm – Essential Ingredients. The ingredients that go into a loaf of bread are simple – flour, yeast or other leavening agent, liquid, and salt.  We will learn the nature of ingredients and proportion used in a recipe.  Day 2: July 26th at 2:30 pm – The Art of Baking Bread.  We will learn the science behind the art of baking yeast bread – from mixing, to kneading, to proofing to baking.  Day 3: July 27th at 2:30 pm – Quick Breads.  Quick breads are breads that can be made in a short period of time and with very little effort.  We will be making quick bread.  Day 4: July 28th at 2:30 pm – Cookies.  Cookies can be separated into six types, based on the softness of the dough.  You will try your hand at whipping up a batch of cookies.  Day 5:  July 29th at 2:30 pm – Cakes.  Today cakes are a symbol of many ceremonies, from birthdays to weddings.  We will be baking a cake.

The tentative date for Just Get Moving Manchester is August 4, 2016 from 6:00—7:30 pm at Rawlings & Stinson Park.  Come have some fun at the park with activities for youth & adults to “Just Get Moving”. Free and open to the public.
