Additional charges for accused shoplifter in Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Daniel Grigsby arrested Brittany Baker age 25 of Corbin Manor Apartments, Corbin on Monday evening June 27, 2016 at approximately 7:03 PM.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.

When Deputy Grigsby arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that this subject had allegedly traveled through a self checkout lane paying for some items but not scanning all items. Total value of the theft was $40.68 and included a pillow, toothpaste, toothbrush, glasschalk, hair color, toe ring, and anklet.

While this subject was being processed at the Sheriff's office in London, deputies noticed a bulge in this subject's clothing and as this subject was being escorted to the detention facility was advised that if she was taking drugs into the facility she would be charged with an additional charge.

This subject admitted to having something and was subsequently searched by a female deputy jailer where pills, meth, drug paraphernalia, and $580 cash was found in her possession.

Additional charges on Brittany Baker included: trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance – third-degree; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; and tampering with physical evidence.

Brittany Baker was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
