Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Sgt. Brett Reeves investigated a burglary which occurred off O and W Ln., approximately 2 miles south of London early Wednesday morning June 15, 2016.

At that burglary, Sgt. Reeves learned that a male subject went to the victim's property and lured her outside her residence asking about a property behind her residence while a second person entered her residence taking a purse containing an undisclosed amount of money, car keys and several other personal items.

Later Wednesday, information was developed on a possible suspect who was located off Glenview Road, approximately 2 miles north of London.

Deputy Craig Sutton along with Sgt. Brett Reeves located Andrew Burkhart age 67 of Blossom Ridge Rd., Corbin and while conducting their investigation, this subject knowingly gave investigating deputies incorrect information in order to delay apprehension of the other male subject involved in the earlier burglary on O and W Ln., Andrew Burkhart was charged with burglary – second degree; hindering prosecution or apprehension – second degree; and public intoxication – controlled substances.

Deputies interviewed a female subject on nearby Helvetia Road who is believed to be the wife of the second subject allegedly involved in the burglary-- Crystal Wilt age 42 of London--- she advised deputies that she did not know the whereabouts of her husband and when asked she called him--- but informed him that deputies were there (allowing her husband to escape).

Crystal Wilt-Doan was charged with hindering prosecution and apprehension – second-degree; false statement/misrepresentation to receive benefits over $100; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense; and possession of drug paraphernalia – this subject was found to be in possession of another persons EBT card, Xanax, oxycodone, and 2 glass pipes used to smoke crystal methamphetamine.

A search was conducted in that area in an attempt to locate her husband – who is believed to be the second subject involved in the burglary earlier on O and W Lane, but he was not located.

Assisting in that search was: Sgt. Brett Reeves, Deputy Craig Sutton, Detective Jason Back, Detective James Sizemore, Cpl. Jack Caudill, and Deputy John Inman.
