Man arrested for abusing two-year-old

WCSD Press Release | May 31, 2016

Around 6 p.m. May 29, 2016, deputies were notified by Whitley County E911 of a potential domestic dispute.

At an Oak Grove Church Road residence, Deputy Joe Prewitt made contact with an adult female. She appeared to have a facial injury and stated that she had been hit by Joshua P. Eaton, 21, of Corbin. She stated that she was hit while trying to protect her two-year-old son. The two-year-old showed signs of being physically abused.

After several hours, Eaton was taken into custody. He admitted to laying hands on the two-year-old. He stated that he was annoyed by the toddler’s crying. The female and two-year-old were taken to Baptist Health Corbin in a personally owned vehicle.

A two-month-old baby was present but not injured during the altercations.

Eaton was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center and is charged with first-degree criminal abuse (of a child under 12-years-old) and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).

Deputy Jonas Saunders assisted.
