CLAY COUNTY, KY - Thomas Curtis Sizemore "Colonel T.C.", age 94 of Manchester, departed this life on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Laurel Creek Health Care Center. He was born on Tuesday, March 8, 1921 in Clay County, Kentucky to Carlo L. and Allie Jackson Sizemore.
"Colonel T.C." was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Forces and saw action in the Western Pacific, under Gen. Douglas McArthur, during World War II.
Subsequent to the war, he entered politics and became famous for his campaign against moonshine traffickers in Clay County after being elected to the Sheriff's Office.
Thomas C. Sizemore, was a veteran journalist and a writer of vast experience and creativity. He was a newspaper editor in Booneville, Hyden, Jamestown, TN. & The Manchester Enterprise in Manchester KY.
He was Area Correspondent for "Time" and "Life" magazines and also served as Clay County VFW Post 7606 Chaplain for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Carlo L. and Allie Sizemore, his son: Tim Sizemore, and these siblings: Edison, Shelby, Thelma, Vicie, Ford, Opal, and Lillie.
He leaves to mourn his passing: His son, Thomas Curtis Sizemore Jr. and three grandchildren - Daniel, Anthony, and Lelah Sizemore of Nashville, Tennessee; his brother, Martin Curtis Sizemore of Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
A host of nieces and nephews including, Carolyn Smith, Phyllis Allen, Cecil Ray Martin, Bobbie Monopole, Daisy Bishop, Ray Lewis, Dewey Lewis, Larry, David, Michael Sayers, Shirley Sizemore, Linda and Betty Jo, Eva, Arthur, Ernest, and David Earl Sizemore.
Funeral Services for "Colonel T.C." Sizemore will be conducted on Thursday, December 31 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. William Hugh Hudson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery in the Asher’s Fork Community.
Visitation: Wednesday evening after 6:00 P.M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Rominger Funeral Home.
