Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Detective Charlie Loomis and Detective Kevin Berry along with Deputy Kyle Gray, Sgt. Robbie Grimes and Lieut. Greg Poynter are conducting a death investigation regarding the discovery of a deceased individual off Little PittsburgRoad, approximately 2 miles north of London on Wednesday afternoon September 16, 2015 at approximately 5:19 PM.
Investigating detectives report that apparently a welfare check was conducted at a residence there by a deputy jailer and sister to the victim where a woman was found deceased. Sheriff's deputies were notified and found the victim deceased in the kitchen area of the residence.
An immediate cause of death has not been determined. The victim will be sent to Frankfort for autopsy to assist in determining the cause of death.
The victim was identified as Tawnya McGhee age 55 of Little Pittsburg Rd., London.
Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling assisted on the investigation. KSP/CVE Officers Chris McQueen and John Bledsoe also assisted at the scene.
Investigation is continuing by Detective Charlie Loomis and Detective Kevin Berry, and Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.
A cause of death has yet to be determined and additional testing will be conducted.
