Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Travis Napier arrested two individuals at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2015, at approximately 6:50 PM.
The arrest occurred after Walmart's loss prevention team detained 2 subjects. When Deputy Napier arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that allegedly a male and female subject had been observed scanning only $16 worth of merchandise but not paying for $118 worth of merchandise and attempting to leave the store without paying for those items.
Arrested was Tommy Hooker, age 21, Of Happy Ln., Barbourville, and Angela Merida, age 47, Of Happy Ln., Barbourville, both charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting, and were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
