Wanted subject swings 6 inch knife at officer - Laurel County

 

 

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Larry Parrott along with Sgt. Robbie Grimes and Deputy Tommy Houston arrested a Corbin man on Thursday evening March 5, 2015 at approximately 5:59 P.M..

Arrested was John Hart age of 32 of Oak Ridge Church Road, Corbin, KY.

The arrest occurred after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a wanted subject armed with a knife locked in a bathroom at a residence on Oak Ridge Church road. When deputies arrived at the scene, this subject fled out a side door of the residence yelling and cursing as he ran from deputies.

Deputies chased this subject 1/8 of a mile until he tripped in the snow, where deputies struggled with this subject who was armed with a knife – at one point this subject swung the 6 inch knife at Deputy Parrott, but was quickly disarmed and taken into custody.

This subject had several cuts on his arm apparently from cutting himself before deputies had arrived at the scene. John Hart was charged with fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot; wanton endangerment second-degree- victim is police officer; resisting arrest; disorderly conduct – second-degree; public intoxication – controlled substances; and terroristic threatening – third-degree.

This subject was wanted in Knox County on an indictment warrant charging fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot; assault – 4th degree; and persistent felony offender II.

In addition, this subject was wanted in Whitley County on a bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO. John Hart was lodged in the Laurel County detention Center.
