The Clay County Cruisers is one of the best things that's ever happened for Clay County! The Cruisers first show was the catalyst that lit the tourism fire in Clay County.
Their vision for a better Manchester & Clay County was plain for everyone to see in the smoke of those burning tires on some of the most "Bad A$$" rides in the U.S.A.!
Don't know if this is true or not, just bits & pieces I've heard since I've been going to the car shows, but all those black marks left behind from creating the smoke that made visible the tourism vision, may have gotten a few of the group in some "HOT" water with the local law back then...Uh Huh....Thankfully, they're still here "Wheels still turning" - "Tires still burning".....
Again this is only my opinion, but after taking a hard look at the big picture, I believe that the Clay County Cruisers is the cornerstone (foundation) of our local tourism movement that's now getting stronger on a daily basis.
With no infrastructure to support big industry, tourism is the rock we have to build on! Clay County is blessed to be the home of & to have the support of such dedicated individuals.....Soooo...Hey, get involved and let's throw some support right back at em'!....Come to the car shows!...Something good's going on in our county, be a part of it!
Also, other local organizations such as the World Animal Foundation and Furs Foundation, just to name a couple that are working for the betterment of our city, county, state and country.
