VICTIM IDENTIFIED DURING "MAJOR CRIMES" TASK FORCE DEATH INVESTIGATION IN LAUREL COUNTY, KY

LONDON, KY — Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: The Laurel County "Major Crimes" is conducting a death investigation after the discovery of a deceased individual at a residential house fire off Patton Road approximately 8 miles north of London. The residential fire was reported at 9:11 AM Monday morning April 28, 2025.

Numerous county fire departments and law enforcement officials responded to the scene. Fire fighters worked diligently to extinguish the fire, to allow first responders to safely enter the badly burned remains of the home.

One deceased individual was found in a bedroom area of the residence, and removed by the Laurel County Coroner's office. The victim's identity was released after next of kin notifications were made. The deceased individual is identified as Stanley Crisp age 66 of East Bernstadt, KY.

Agencies involved included: the Laurel County Major Crimes task force(comprised of the Laurel County Sheriff's Office--Detective Taylor McDaniel, Detective Tommy Houston and the Kentucky State Police —Detective James Royal), Numerous fire departments including Crossroads Fire and Rescue, East Bernstadt Fire and Rescue, Laurel County Fire Department, and London City Fire department.

Also at the scene was the Laurel County Emergency Management, Laurel County Coroner's office, London —Laurel County Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, and numerous other Laurel County Sheriff's deputies and detectives.

The State Fire Marshal's office will be conducting the fire investigation. Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel is the case officer.

Investigation is continuing by the Laurel County "Major Crimes" Task Force.
