LONDON, KY - According to the Laurel County Laurel County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff John Root reported on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 that a phone scam is circulating in the Laurel County area.
In the pay by phone scam, The caller(s) is texting individuals and providing a link advising citizens to pay delinquent taxes by clicking on the link in the text that is sent.
The Laurel County Sheriff's office does not collect taxes in this way.
This is definitely a scam and citizens should not click the link or send any money by clicking the link.
The Laurel County Sheriff's office continues to investigate.
