LOUISVILLE, KY — The Kentucky Association of Health Plans (KAHP), the trade association representing Medicaid managed care organizations and commercial insurers in the Commonwealth, has announced a total of $300,000 in donations to support flood recovery efforts across Kentucky.
KAHP has made $100,000 contributions to the American Red Cross of Kentucky, Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund, and the United Way of Kentucky Disaster Relief Fund. These donations are part of a continued commitment to stand alongside fellow Kentuckians in the face of natural disasters.
“Flooding continues to take a serious toll on Kentucky families and communities, and we want to ensure that help gets to where it’s needed most,” said Katherine Kington North, Vice President of External Relations for KAHP. “These contributions reflect our commitment to supporting organizations with deep roots in the Commonwealth that are delivering real relief on the ground.”
Over the past several years, KAHP has consistently provided support to communities affected by natural disasters. After devastating tornadoes and flooding—including the Eastern Kentucky flooding in February—KAHP has delivered critical relief supplies, made substantial financial contributions, and put on free medical, dental, and vision clinics in hard-hit areas like Mayfield.
The association also made a significant donation to the Kentucky Rural Health Collaborative fund to assist Eastern Kentucky healthcare workers whose homes were destroyed or severely damaged. The donation was designed to help keep rural health networks strong by ensuring that healthcare professionals could rebuild and access essential household items. Additionally, KAHP helped backstop vital organizations like Saint Vincent Mission, which used funding to construct a much-needed warehouse to store materials for home repair and distribute essential items such as clothing, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies.
