PHONE SCAM MISREPRESENTING LAUREL COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE IN KY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: A phone scam has resurfaced in Laurel County where the caller is identifying himself as a deputy.

Subjects are trying to scam citizens. Do not give them you financial information and do not pay them!!

The caller is advising citizens to pay bond money regarding a legal issue-either or a failure to appear in court, or missed jury duty, or an outstanding warrant. The caller is telling people to pay money to take care of the issue.

This is a scam to steal money from unsuspecting citizens.

  • Do not send money

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office will never call citizens on the telephone demanding money regarding a case or an outstanding warrant.

Laurel County Sheriff's Office continues their investigation into this most recent phone scam.
