MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff, Patrick Robinson, reports that on Sunday, February 9, 2025 Deputy Walter Marker observed a Nissan Sentra going South out of Gregory Branch Rd., Deputy Marker observed the rear window of the Nissan to be covered with something that could not be seen through as well as expired tags.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver, identified as Michael Johnson, age 37, of Manchester, KY exited the vehicle and ran behind a house. Deputy Sgt. Wes Brumley was in the parking lot across the road and once Johnson saw him he stopped.
Through investigation Deputies discovered that Johnson did not have a drivers license, had not transferred the vehicle into his name, and did not have insurance on the vehicle he was in.
Search incident to arrest Deputy Marker and Deputy Sgt. Brumley located suspected methamphetamine in a black Costa glasses case on the drivers side where Johnson was sitting.
Deputies seized the suspected methamphetamine and the arrested suspect was transported to the Clay County Detention Center.
Michael Johnson was charged with:
- IMPROPER EQUIPMENT
- FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 2ND DEGREE (ON FOOT)
- NO REGISTRATION PLATES
- NO REGISTRATION RECEIPT
- FAILURE OF NON
- OWNER OPERATOR TO MAINTAIN REQ INS/SEC, 1ST OFF-LICENSE TO BE IN POSSESSION
- POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG 1ST OFF (DRUG UNSPECIFIED)
- DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS
