LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel is investigating a reported shooting that occurred off Hooppole Creek Road approximately 12 miles east of London on Monday night January 13, 2025 at approximately 9:09 PM.
London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. dispatched deputies to a residence there following reports that a male subject had been shot.
When Sheriff's investigators arrived at the scene they learned that allegedly two individuals had been assaulted by a male subject there who then apparently reached for a gun and at that time was shot by a male subject there apparently in self-defense.
The individual shot had an injury to the upper torso and was flown by Air Evac to UK Medical Center in Lexington for treatment of a serious injury. A pistol has been recovered at the scene.
Detective McDaniel, the case officer, will present his investigation to a Laurel County grand jury for their consideration.
Assisting at the scene was: other Laurel County Sheriff's deputies and detectives, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Bush volunteer fire department, and Air Evac.
