LONDON, KY - The Laurel County Sheriff's Office has reported that shift Sgt. Allen Turner arrested Zachary Cotton, age 25, of London, on the evening of Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at approximately 9:06 PM. The incident took place on Old Way Road, approximately 4 miles east of London, after Sgt. Turner attempted to stop a black Suzuki Grand Vitara observed traveling at an excessive speed.
Upon activating his emergency equipment, Sgt. Turner attempted to stop the vehicle, which did not comply and continued to flee. Approximately a quarter-mile later, the vehicle began to malfunction and stopped. The driver, Zachary Cotton, then exited the vehicle, stating he was no longer running.
During the arrest, suspected methamphetamine was discovered in Mr. Cotton's possession.
Zachary Cotton has been charged with the following offenses:
- Speeding-Fleeing or Evading Police – Second-Degree – Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – First-Degree – First Offense – Methamphetamine
