PHONE SCAM TARGETING UNSUPECTING CITIZENS RESURFACES IN LAUREL COUNTY, KY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: A phone scam has resurfaced in Laurel County where the caller(s) is identifying himself as Sgt. Brett Reeves.

LSO logo BLACKandGOLD John Root 200We do have a Sgt. Brett Reeves, however, he is not making the phone calls. The calls are from subjects trying to scam citizens.

Do not give them you financial information and do not pay them!!

A phone number associated with the scam calls is: 606-441-1799. The caller(s) is advising citizens to pay bond money regarding a legal issue such as a failure to appear in court, missed jury duty, or an outstanding warrant. The caller is also telling people they can pay money to take care of the issue. They are demanding payments up to $4,000.

This is a scam to steal money from unsuspecting citizens. Report this scam. Do not give out personal data or financial information. Do not send money. The Laurel County Sheriff's Office will never call citizens on the telephone demanding money regarding a case or an outstanding warrant.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office continues their investigation into this most recent phone scam.
