GRAY, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at approximately 5:37 p.m., KSP Post 10, Harlan received a call from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department in reference to a stabbing that had occurred at 3925 Highway 1232 in Gray, KY.
Troopers and Detectives from Post 10 responded and began an investigation.
The initial investigation indicates a physical altercation occurred between Norman McCreary, age 67, and Eric Hibbard, age 36, at the residence (left) of Mr. McCreary.
Throughout the course of the altercation, Eric Hibbard brandished a knife and stabbed Mr. McCreary several times in the neck and torso.
Norman McCreary, 67 years old sustained fatal injuries. The Knox County Coroner's Office responded and pronounced McCreary deceased.
Eric Hibbard was arrested and charged with:
- MURDER
This individual was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

The body has been sent to the State Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

Also assisting at the scene were Knox County Ambulance Service, Knox County Coroner Office, Knox County Sheriff’s Dept and Knox County Child Protective Service.
