SMITHS GROVE, KY – Kentucky State Police (KSP) report that on Thursday, July 25, 2024 At approximately 9:00 pm KSP Post 3, Bowling Green received a call from Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office regarding a single vehicle fatal collision.
KSP troopers responded to the scene in Smiths Grove on Louisville Road.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a white 2017 Lexus operated by Melissa Sargent, 38, of Charleston, SC, was traveling south on Louisville Road. The vehicle crossed the northound lane and left the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturn. Sargent was ejected from the vehicle and was pronouced deceased on the scene by the Edmonson County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is being led by Trooper Landon Key. He was assisted on scene by Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office, Edmonson County Coroner’s Office and other KSP personnel.
