BARBOURVILLE, KY - The Knox County, Ky. Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Saturday morning July 20, 2024, Knox County 911 received a call of a man being found deceased after being trapped under an ATV.
Family members of the man stated that they spoke to him around 2:00 PM Friday afternoon and he stated he was off to get lumber. They had not heard from him since that time so they began searching for him which lasted all night.
He was located on Rufus Mills Ridge off of KY 11-South in the Barbourville area.
Responding Saturday morning was Knox County K-9 Deputy Jeremiah Williams and Knox County Deputy Coroner Mike Trent who identified the man as 59-year-old James E. Vaughn of Swan Pond.
Lt. Sam Mullins is in charge of the investigation.
