LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel is investigating a death that occurred at a residence off Gail Avenue approximately 1 1/2 miles west of London on Friday night June 21, 2024 at approximately 10:50 PM.
The case officer, Detective McDaniel reports that allegedly two male subjects, a step father and a stepson were involved in a domestic dispute following an alleged assault where the stepfather assaulted the stepson's mother.
The dispute became physical between the two male subjects resulting in a single knife stab wound to the chest of the step father causing a fatal injury.
The deceased individual is identified as: Kaney Hiram Hoskins age 37 pronounced deceased at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner's office.
This case will be presented to a Laurel County grand jury for their consideration.
Assisting at the scene for the Laurel County Sheriff's office were: Capt. Chris Edwards, shift Sgt. Travis Napier, Detective Hunter Disney, Detective Robert Reed, Deputy Nate Bishop, Deputy Byron Grimes, Deputy Bobby Roberts, and Deputy Joe Breeding.
Also assisting at the scene were: London City Police, Kentucky State Police, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Swiss Colony volunteer fire department, and the Laurel County Coroner's office.
