SOMERSET, KY - Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of a Somerset man after drugs were discovered during a traffic stop.
On Saturday, March 16, 2024, at approximately 2:15 am, Deputy Tyler Pearson observed a Buick passenger car being driven northbound on U.S. 27 in Burnside, KY without tail lights. Deputy Pearson also found the registration plate was expired.
Deputy Pearson performed a traffic stop on the vehicle on E. Antioch Ave. and identified Casey James Gibson, 32 years of age, Somerset, KY, as the operator.
During the stop, Gibson was found to not be wearing a seat belt and could not provide a proof of insurance.
When asked, Gibson granted Deputy Pearson consent to search the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle, Deputy Pearson located clear plastic bags containing a white crystal like substance believed to be Methamphetamine, a plastic container with a hard black substance believed to be Heroin, and a glass jar containing a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana.
Also found in the car was items commonly known in the smoking of narcotics.
Casey Gibson was arrested from the traffic stop and charged with:
- No Brake Lights
- No Registration Receipt
- No Registration Plates
- Failure to Wear Seat Belts
- Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance/Security 1st Offense
- Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense-Methamphetamine
- Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense-Heroin
- Possession of Marijuana
- Drug Paraphernalia-Buy or Possess.
Gibson was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
