KNOX COUNTY, KY - The body of a missing Claiborne County, Tennessee man was found in Knox County, Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon March 13, 2024.
Curtis Mason, age 86 of Harrogate, TN had been reported missing and was last seen on Monday, February 26th. A Silver Alert was issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
His vehicle, a 2004 silver Pontiac Montana, had been captured by business cameras in Middlesboro, Pineville, and along Highway 92 during this time.
Multiple law enforcement agencies and family members of Mr. Mason had been searching several weeks for him.
Mr. Mason was found in the Goldens Creek area of Knox County near 1809 after individuals riding in the region told those searching for him that they had seen his van.
He was pronounced deceased by Knox County Coroner Mike Blevins. His body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.
While Knox County Lt. Sam Mullins is heading up the Kentucky portion of the investigation, Claiborne County. TN Detectives and TBI are in charge of the Tennessee investigation.
Also assisting on scene was the Knox County SORT team.
No foul play is suspected.
