LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Noah Ritchie arrested Steven Robert Powers age 61 of Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon February 25, 2024 at approximately 4:19 PM.
The arrest occurred on North Laurel Road in London following a traffic stop conducted on a gray Ford Explorer whose driver was observed unrestrained.
Deputy Richie further noted that the rear windshield was busted out and the front windshield was busted as well.
During the stop, Deputy Richie noted detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver.
It was learned through investigation that the vehicle was a reported stolen vehicle, out of Mississippi.
Steven Robert Powers was charged with:
- Receiving stolen property $1000 or more but under $10,000
- Possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited
- Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

*This was the second recovery of a stolen vehicle, earlier while assisting Kentucky state police, another stolen vehicle was recovered off Highway 490 north of East Bernstadt.
