SALYERSVILLE, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that KSP Post 9, Pikeville was notified of a two-vehicle fatal collision in Magoffin County at approximately 7:44 P.M. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
The collision occurred on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway in the Salyersville community of Magoffin County.
Upon arrival and through investigation, troopers discovered 26 year-old Justin Jarrell of Dana, KY was operating a 2020 Honda Accord when his vehicle struck a bridge embankment and collided with a 2003 Freightliner motorhome, operated by 43-year-old Thomas Lidster of Robinson Creek, KY.
Jarrell was pronounced deceased on scene by the Magoffin County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Reconstructionist, Trooper James Cress.
Trooper Cress was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Salyersville Police Department, Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office, Magoffin County Rescue Squad, Salyersville Volunteer Fire Department, and Patriot Ambulance Service.
